My drum cover of Queen's Under Pressure using a drumless track to lay down my own version, but heavily influenced by the classic Roger Taylor. He has such a unique playing style that I've loved since the first time I saw Queen live during their Day At The Races tour. That concert was mind blowing. STEPHAN LONGO HOME DRUM RECORDING EQUIPMENT
A rockin’ Zeppelin tune, a grooving Gospel song, or a super technical, double bass filled Dream Theater challenge. Whether you're practicing in your basement, playing in a club band, or you're a YouTube video star, there's a 'tune selection' process for everyone in drum covers. That process is a personal one, but try to find the commonalties of what we and our audience all share in. Is the song one that many know? Is it a timeless melody? What's the fun factor...do most people sing out loud when they hear it? If the answer is yes to all, then you've got a potential drum cover tune that will attract interest. Here's a recent selection of mine...Shakin' by Eddie Money (the Money Man). Simple, but effective! Raise Your Glass - Pink, Drum Cover RAISE YOUR GLASS to 2021. Happy and healthy New Years!…turn it up! Drum recording with EV RE20 mic, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface and Garageband software.
"Raise Your Glass" was announced as the lead single from Pink's then-upcoming greatest hits compilation on October 1, 2010.The song follows a strong pop style. The song was released as the album's lead single on October 5, 2010, by Jive Records gaining both critical and commercial success, being acclaimed by most music critics and described as a party anthem, and reaching the top-ten in several countries, including the United States, where it became her third number-one single. In 2011, "Raise Your Glass" was ranked at number thirteen on the "Top 40 Year End Chart" based on Mediabase
KASHMIR, LED ZEPPELIN Drum Cover - Stephan Longo
All about the pocket Such a driving, rock tune. Always a blast playing a drum cover with Kashmir by Zeppelin, and doing my best to respect the John Bonham tight, unique groove. Hope you enjoy this drum cover of Kashmir.
Drum cover of 24K Magic by Bruno Mars
It's all about the GROOVES! 24K Magic packs considerable musical depth in its attention to detail. This entire CD is seriously an hour of party tunes that sound like the best bits of ’90s R&B I was drawn to the contemporary R&B combined with the old-school vibe. When drumming to various tunes, this song here, 24K Magic, is about playing for the song. A tight, pocket groove that syncs with the bass guitar...building that perfect rhythm foundation. This tune seems to get better over time. The song features Joe Walsh using a guitar talk box, manufactured by sound engineer Bob Heil, who invented the device. The distinct tone gives Walsh's blues stomp a futuristic wave, as if a hulking mechanical beast was looming just over those rocky mountains. When I was 12, I used to try and play these pocket groove songs (always loved tunes like this)….sounded simple to emulate at the time, but it took years to realize why it didn’t sound like HIS drummer… the minor nuances, feel and pocket groove comes over time. Enjoy your week — TURN IT UP and DANCE!!!! Building a beat! What a great feeling helping this young man put it all together. Just a couple weeks ago, we were only working on two ‘limbs’ (both hands, one hand/one foot)… ...and here we are putting it all together. The smile on his face is the only reward I need! Growing up in the 80's, Queen was and still is one of my favorite bands. They always had such wide array of styles and influences, but with a blend all their own. Roger Taylor was a huge influence for me since I heard my first Queen Album Night At The Opera. Always gravitated to his ultra cool beats and fills. |
